The video game industry has grown exponentially in the past decade. The improvements of graphics cards, computing power, network effects on the internet, and eSports have resulted in a new wave of video games and devoted gamers. With total revenues in the gaming industry over $100 billion, this industry is growing fast and positioned perfectly to compliment the growth in the cryptocurrency industry because it is digital-native.

At Coinplan, we create thematic portfolios of cryptocurrencies that are investable on our crypto portfolio marketplace. We’re excited to launch the Coinplan Gaming Portfolio, a collection of what we consider to be the best cryptocurrencies for gaming.

In the Portfolio

FunFair (FUN) — A Trusted Online Casino on the Blockchain

FunFair is revolutionizing the online gambling and gaming industry by giving players full transparency into digital games through building these games on the blockchain. Online casinos and gambling games have been criticized for manufacturing more favorable odds, which the game player is oblivious to. So by FunFair using a public blockchain to bring transparency to online gambling, there is no longer a mystery box of unfair advantages to the online casinos. FunFair is building a full online casino with online slot machines, blackjack, roulette and more already available to play.

The FunFair token — FUN — is used within the FunFair ecosystem to access games, gamble, and claim awards. FUN is currently ranked #122 by market capitalization with a token price of $0.004540 USD.

Worldwide Asset Exchange (WAX) — Create, Buy and Sell Virtual Items

Worldwide Asset Exchange, or WAX for short, is a marketplace for virtual items like in-game purchases. For example, when a gamer purchases a new outfit in the popular game Fortnite, the gamer does not actually own the outfit. Instead, Fortnite owns the outfit and leaves the gamer with no claims to the virtual item he or she just spend hundreds of dollars on. There is clearly an imbalance in rights with that model.

WAX is using blockchain technology to give gamers true ownership of their virtual items. Not only does WAX give gamers true ownership of these items, but it also facilitates the buying and selling of virtual items in a peer to peer marketplace. Gamers can now trade a virtual item in one game for a virtual item in another game and then trade WAX into bitcoin to buy a coffee with their virtual winnings.

WAX is currently ranked #87 by market capitalization and has a token price of $0.041253 USD.

Decentraland is looking ahead to the oncoming wave of virtual reality possibilities and has created a decentralized virtual world so that no single entity holds the power in this new world. Decentraland was built for builders — there is no limit to what a creator can build in Decentraland. Create a virtual casino? Gamble real money through ethereum. Create a virtual farm? Sell virtual corn for ethereum.

Enjin (ENJ) — Build Blockchain-Based Games

Enjin allows developers to create blockchain-based video games where transactions, virtual items, and rewards are all transparent and owned by the player. A unique aspect to Enjin blockchain games are that the developers have the ability to create fungible and non-fungible virtual items in the game, meaning identical or unique virtual items can be made.

Building video games on the blockchain enables developers to monetize their game directly from their users and gives ownership of virtual items to the users. It’s truly a win-win in disrupting a centralized video game industry where third-parties siphon fees.

The Enjin Coin, ENJ, trades for $0.035991 USD and is ranked #114 in total market capitalization. To learn more about Enjin Coin— Click HERE.
