Greetings,

We are happy to announce the launch of B PASS: the one-ID app for 3.4 million Busan citizens.

On October 30th, Busan City, the Korean Internet & Security Agency and Busan Techno Park held a launching ceremony where they announced the official release of B PASS. In the same ceremony, the Busan government launched other services developed by the four projects within the special zone: B Tour, B Fresh, Busan Digital Voucher and the Citizen Safety Report.

B PASS was developed by Coinplug and is replacing the Busan Blockchain ID App launched in June. B PASS also replaces the existing manual process of registration and identification with an easy and convenient DID-based mobile application designed to serve as the ultimate identification for Busan citizens.

With B PASS, users will be able to access not only public facilities and services but also enjoy the new platforms specially designed for this innovative city like Busan Digital Voucher, the Citizen Safety Report, B-Fresh and B-Tour. The app also provides DID non-face-to-face authentication to multiple public services like the Busan Citizen Card, Haeundae Citizen Card, Busan City Hall Resident Card, CENTAP Access, Mobile Family Love Card, and the Mobile Library membership card. Busan City and Coinplug are actively expanding the supported services by signing with more projects in the zone.

The Citizen Safety Report app (시민안전제보) is a secure and transparent data sharing platform that promotes citizens’ participation in the community’s safety improvement. With the Citizen Safety Report, users can relay information regardless of time and location with DID authentication, this ensures anonymity of informants and reliability of the tip-off information.

There are two types of reports within the app:

  • Regular Report: Citizens can report an accident, public inconveniences or a natural disaster to the appropriate public facility.
  • Mission Report: Public facilities launch missions with the intention of getting information to increase safety and prevent accidents. They can be a general mission, a location verification or a survey mission. With this kind of report, participants get rewards that can be exchanged with the Busan Digital Voucher.

B PASS and the Citizen Safety Report were developed by Coinplug using the Metadium Blockchain.

Ryan Uhr, Coinplug’s CEO, said “The use of digital public services based on Blockchain’s Decentralized Identifiers is becoming more important as mobile devices become more common and the need to strengthen personal information protection increases. We will work to add more services to B PASS for the convenience of Busan citizens”.

The Busan Digital Voucher will be used as a payment and rewards method within the Busan City and it’s being supported by Busan Bank. B Fresh is a blockchain-base supply chain management solution for Busan fisheries that allows citizens to see how fresh the maritime products they consume are. B Fresh was developed by BP&Solution and has been in testing mode since September. B Tour is provided by Hyundai Pay and it’s a platform where users can check promotions, buy tickets to multiple events and get discounts.

As always, Coinplug will continue developing services that bring blockchain’s benefits closer to our daily lives.
