Distributed and decentralized technologies for the future Internet

Full story available at https://coinsolidation.io/reviews/haja-networks/

Haja Networks aims to create a new set of database protocols which will help build an infrastructure for the decentralized internet as it is one of the goals that needs to be completed first in order to support idea of Web 3.0.

What does it actually means? A Web 3.0?

If you are old enough you may remember the “World Wide Web” or Web 1.0 as it is called today. A set of static websites with lot of text information and no interactive content that you were accessing with modem on the phone line. Finding and downloading a single mp3 song was taking a whole day and was blocking whole household from using the phone. Fun times!

With faster internet speed, interactive content was introduced and internet users evolved from passive observers to active participants of digital age, sharing information globally thru the social media companies. And that is when era of Web 2.0 begun. While Web 2.0 gave the freedom and voice to big masses, the economy behind the information is largely privatized and monopolized by big behemots companies like Facebook where user identities, browsing habits, searches and online shopping information is sold to highest bidder.

A first step towards decentralized internet

Developement of decentralized databases is a first step towards setting decentralized internet infrastructure. Haja Networks is building new database protocols to enable decentralised databases and to provide interoperability between different blockchains to allow users to sell or lease their data to businesses while maintaining control over what information is accessible to third-parties:

1. Decentralised Database Protocol: An open protocol to build decentralised databases that enables users to own and control their data. The protocol integrates with existing databases, unlocking them to the decentralised web, and enables interoperability between structured data sources.

2. Decentralised Database Network: A marketplace for decentralised database services allowing providers to monetize their software whilst data hungry businesses have straightforward access to the widest range of services.

Whitepaper and roadmap

While there is no official documentation, we may hope to see some of the details in Q3 or thru direct contact with the team.

Team

Samuli Pöyhtäri, CEO, co-founder at Haja Networks

Vesa-Ville Piiroinen, CTO, co-founder at Haja Networks

Juuso Räsänen, Business Development Director at Haja Networks

Advisors

Trent McConaghy , a trully star advisor for this project who is “all about democratizing data for the planet”. We are glad to see that Haja vision aligns with BigChainDB values and vision with a promising aspect of future collaboration.

Teemu Päivinen , advisor famous for his Thin protocols article

Eden Dhaliwal, board director and advisor

Elad Verbin, founding partner of Berlin Innovation Ventures, involved in the Ethereum/Swarm community

Summary

Haja network is recent startup with such a strong fundamental decentralization goal that is backed by strong advisors. It is still too early to say more about project or go into deep details with no whitepaper and roadmap. Hopefully opportunity to contact and collaborate with the team will arise.
