My Binance Account Hacked! Here’s How You Can Secure Your Account
If you are into the Crypto space, whether as a trader or investor, you must know that you are not immune to hacks — You can be rekt anytime, if not careful!
The other day, my Binance account was hacked, fortunately, I didn’t lose any of my funds, but it gave me 4 sleepless nights.
It seems like a hacker got access to my account using API Key. Since the API keys are only enabled for trading, the hacker couldn’t access my fund for withdrawal.
However, the hacker started erratic trading on my account, which flagged the Binance engine that something is wrong with the account, and they paused the trading function.
Here’s what I saw on my Binance App, the next morning 👇🏻
They also sent me an email notifying me about the situation. And the day started with an event of back and forth with customer support of Binance exchange and lasted for the next 4 days.
Yes, it took me over 4 days to get my account access back! 😨
This situation made me realize that if I, being a techie, got hacked — how about millions of other users who are not so tech-savvy, how will they keep their Binance account secure?
The hack was because of my silly mistake and that could cost me a lot. This can happen to you too.
