Event Report: TEAMZ Blockchain Summit, Tokyo 2018

On Sep. 28–29th blockchain and cryptocurrency thought leaders from around the world in gathered in Tokyo to share, discuss, and connect.

Many of the world’s top investors, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders in the emerging global phenomena of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies came together in Tokyo on September 28–29th for the TEAMZ Blockchain Summit.

The event’s theme was exploring the changes that these technologies will bring to different industries and society as a whole. The summit was part of the Tokyo Blockchain Summit Week co-hosted by cryptocurrency exchange, KEX.

In addition to over 2,000 attendees, the summit hosted approximately 500 experts, 100 investors, 45 speakers, 20 exchanges, 50 journalists and 50 influencers — representing more than 50 countries.

Speakers

The summit invited the founding partner of Crypto Research, Eikiko Wada to launch the summit along with the founder and CEO of TEAMZ Yang, Tianyu.

The line up of presenters and panel members included:

  • Charles Hoskinson, CEO of IOHK gave a fascinating talk on “The Arc of History.”
  • Roger Ver, CEO of Bitcoin.com presented a video speech on “How Digital Currency Will Change the World.”
  • Terrada Warehouse introduced a “Mini Warehouse” concept that provides convenient services for enterprise storage space.
  • Masafumi Shimizu, Founder & CEO of Nevula educated the audience about online and offline blockchain gaming platforms.
  • Du Jun, Co-founder of Huobi, Founder of Node Capital
  • Jeffrey Wernick, Cryptocurrency Investor
  • Katsuya Konno, CFO of QUOINE
  • Makoto Takano, Editor in Chief of Forbes Japan, Founder of D4V (Design For Ventures)
  • Nick Yang Ning, Founder of Lebox Capital
  • Sawako Ono, CEO of AnyPay
  • Yin-Xiaogang, CEO of KEX

Panel Discussions

There was a variety of fascinating dialogues on stage during the panel sessions.

Panel #1

Under the leadership of the CoinOtaku CEO: Ito Kenji (first from left), experts engaged in a heated discussion on the future challenges and unique opportunities of the Japanese market in terms of policies, law, technology, and industry regulations.

Panel #2

At noon, the round-table discussion was hosted by the founder of Zpop CTO: Teruya Mori, who started a lively discussion on the aspects of market promotion, fund scheduling, and community building in relation to developing blockchain projects in different markets around the world. In the afternoon, CryptoTimes CEO: Shingo Arai (first from left) hosted the heated round-table discussion where experts analyzed the topic of the Chinese blockchain market and the opportunity of the world blockchain market from the perspective of China’s blockchain investors. We were particularly proud to have our COO, Yu Numazaki (far left below), serve as moderator for a panel discussing the future of blockchain. here were 50 exhibitors from around the world showcasing their blockchain and cryptocurrency projects.

Networking

Friday, September 28th ended with a dinner and a chance for everyone to mingle and make connections.

Saturday, September 29th offered networking opportunities in a relaxed communication environment. In the evening was a Red Carpet Gala featuring a luxury exhibition arena with opportunities to network and collaborate with leading blockchain investors, companies and other conference participants in a cultural environment.
