Several student leaders from Campus Activities Board (CAB) recently had the chance to attend the regional National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) conference in Charleston — and our representatives from Coker made their mark!

The Coker delegation at NACA in Charleston, SC — award in hand!

CAB members grabbed two awards in student competitions: The first award, Best Themed Campaign, recognized the successful promotion of last year’s HomeCOWming celebration (remember those cow bells?!). CAB also earned top recognition as Most Creative in the school swap program, where they showed off school spirit and lots of Coker swag!

The NACA delegates were accompanied by Caroline Carter, Director of Student Activities and Leadership, who earned some recognition of her own during the conference. Caroline gave a presentation entitled It Takes a Village — focusing on merging major campus traditions with collaboration and creativity. She talked to an audience of professionals and students from across the region about how our Coker family came together to blend Homecoming and COW Days celebrations last year. Caroline also participated in a professional panel discussion, during which she and five other professionals talked about the beginnings of their careers in Student Activities.

Dean of Students Whitney Watts is thrilled to see Coker students and staff sharing their stories, and letting the world know about the great things coming from our little corner of Hartsville. “This student group works hard to provide an educational, engaging, and active community for our students,” says Dean Watts. “They certainly make me beam with #CokerPride!”

Congratulations & thanks to our NACA student delegation:

Jamez Taylor, SGA President
Darrian Love, Executive Director of CAB
Sydney Shull, Associate Director of CAB
Emily Ek, Director of Evening & Weekend Programming
Liz Kincaid, Director of Novelties
Detric Means, Director of Live Entertainment
