What is the prevailing narrative in your team, group or organisation? Is it one of scarcity and fear about the future? Or is it one of abundance and a sense of all sorts of possibilities in the future?

When you talk to people outside your own team or organisation what sort of mindset do they seem to have? One of deficit, or one of abundance?

Through CoLab Dudley we are encouraging a focus the abundance of skills, knowledge and resources we have or can access in Dudley borough. These can be freely shared across organisational boundaries and communities to explore and produce new knowledge and improve what we do. With this focus we can also activate social resources — that is people, communities and their capabilities.

It would be great to explore people’s experience of abundance thinking or an abundance mindset, and any tactics we could use to shift ourselves or others from deficit thinking — so that we can nurture trust and collaboration. We’ll start doing this at our Knowledge Cafe on Tuesday 13 October, 12.30–1.30pm. Register here if you can join us. We’re meeting in an actual cafe, so you can buy drinks and lunch if you wish.
