Brian Wehrle had dinner with his sister on the evening of Wednesday, September 23, 2009. After the meal, the 39-year-old returned to his parents’ home in Carrollton, Georgia, where he was staying for the week. He called his partner, Jeff Rolsten, who was at the couple’s home in Atlanta, Georgia, around 9:30 pm; he seemed to be in a good mood at the time and there were no indications anything was wrong.

Brian suffered from insomnia and was often up late; a neighbor saw him in his parents’ carport around 2:00 am. When this neighbor left for work at 8:00 am Thursday, he noticed that Brian’s car was gone. Brian had an appointment in the Carrollton County Probate Court at 9:00 am, but he failed to show up. He never returned home and was never seen again.

Brian’s car, a light-blue 1992 Buick Le Sabre, went missing with him, but all of his belongings, including his overnight bag and his cell phone, were left behind at his parents’ house. Brian had no history of disappearing and his loved ones didn’t believe he would have voluntarily walked away from his life. From the beginning, they feared he had been a victim of foul play.
