ColdStack Biweekly Report #7 August 13th — August 27th
Dear community members, we are excited to present our latest biweekly report! We are happy to welcome the many newcomers who have only recently learned about ColdStack, and we are elated to have you join us in the fight to bring decentralized storage networks (DSNs) to the masses. It is incredibly encouraging for our team to see that even those with little technical knowledge surrounding decentralized storage understand just how critical the adoption of DSNs are for data privacy, security, and freedom.
Staking Features
We recently announced our staking features, and have been pleased with our community’s response. ColdStack’s staking will feature a 20% APR reward structure, and will be accessible to those who are participating in our platform’s growth. We’ve prided ourselves in making it so that earning rewards through ColdStack is more accessible when compared to other storage tokens. To obtain rewards through most decentralized storage platforms, a user must actually run a node, mine the token itself, or loan the token out on a separate platform. We feel our staking system is much more simplified, especially for individuals who may not possess a great deal of technical knowledge regarding mining or node operation.
Streamlining our Onboarding
On a related note to our staking announcement and the newfound attention ColdStack has earned, we’ve had even more of an influx in demand regarding both onboarding alpha testers and node operators. To better organize both fronts, we will be releasing forms for those looking to participate in either process. Please be aware that at this stage we will be prioritizing those who have familiarity with S3 for our alpha test, and those who have run nodes for other blockchain projects regarding our node operators. We have been crafting plans to help streamline the alpha test process for several users that are less technically savvy such as guided walkthroughs, however given the resource-intensive nature of us having part of our technical team spend time guiding users we expect this to be a longer process compared to onboarding those who already have the knowledge needed to participate. We will also be creating video walkthroughs, once we can accommodate that.
Expansion of Alpha Tests Client
Due to increased demand for our alpha testing, we will be implementing an expanded clients list We had initially only planned to incorporate Amazon S3 CLI and S3 Browser, however after community feedback we have elected to implement these client solutions for our alpha test, and are pleased to say that we have managed to do so quickly and efficiently. We will be publishing a list of these clients soon. We hope that this effort makes our alpha test even more accessible!
