There are also live music events during the holidays, and a sun sphere observation deck that offers impressive views of the Smoky Mountains and Tennessee River!
Dollywood
Co-owned by Tennessee native, Dolly Parton, Dollywood is the perfect location for a fun-filled afternoon with the kids! With rollercoasters, kiddie rides, craft shops, train rides, a museum, and plenty of restaurants, Dollywood is the perfect place to let the kids run out some extra energy! Located in Pigeon Forge, Dollywood is about a 30-minute drive from Knoxville and is an easy day trip! There are even cabins available for anyone looking to stay a little longer!
Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame
If you pass the thirty-foot basketball, you’ve gone too far! Weighing in at 10 tons and situated atop a glass staircase that resembles a basketball net, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame features interactive, hands-on exhibits that trace women’s basketball from its start in 1982 to the creation of the WNBA. The Hall of Fame features memorabilia from its inductees and an interactive exhibit to test your fundamental basketball skills! Located in downtown Knoxville, this is a must-visit destination for the sports lover in your family!
Market Square District
Dating back to 1854, Market Square has been the hub for exchanging goods and for locals and tourists to gather. Today it’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features a unique blend of restaurants, bars, shopping areas, gardens, pedestrian walkways, and an outdoor theatre. During the summer months, Market Square District is home to outdoor dining, late-night cocktails, and live music performances at the Preservation Pub and Scruffy City Hall. If you’re visiting during the week, make sure to stop by on Wednesdays for a pop-up farmers market!
