Documentary plans cancelled

We weren’t able to collect everything we needed before COVID

It’s been nearly four years since Cole Valley Speaks started. It was a whirlwind of activity with the blog post, Youtube interviews, the Support Group, the joint statement, and documentary filming.

But, like the rest of the world, we were not expecting to be completely disrupted by the pandemic in 2020.

COVID brought our documentary work to halt, and when we were able to revisit it, we realized it had gaps we were no longer able to fill. It was clear we couldn’t tell the story the way it needs to be told. Knowing that, we’ve cancelled our plans — we won’t be publishing a documentary any longer.

The decision comes with some sadness, knowing we weren’t able to completely finish everything in the way we set out to do it. But further reflection makes us feel incredibly proud of what our little movement was able to accomplish. The stories that were told were, and are still, powerful. They will live on at ColeValleySpeaks.com, and the Support Group will remain for anyone that needs to talk.
