Becoming More Involved in Charitable Organizations

If you are like most people, you would like to do more when it comes to charity work.

There are many ways to do for others but for many, it can be difficult to get started. For Colin Fell, the Make-a-Wish foundation in the UK is a top choice. Colin likes to assist the charity that works to provide wishes for ill children.

You can choose to support this charity as well, or work with the local community to assist others. Read on to find out how you can be more charitable throughout the year.

Local Involvement

One of the most common ways to be more charitable is with local involvement. See out local charity organizations that are of interest to you and need help. For many, charity work is something they want to do that has meaning. Perhaps you have been in an abusive relationship in the past. If so, you might be touched to help a women’s shelter that focuses on abuse. If you were sick as a child, you might want to assist the Make-A-Wish foundation in helping with raising money to see wishes come true. Look at your local community and see how you can help. In some communities, the homeless population is prevalent. You can work on assisting the homeless by supporting shelters or hosting events to gather coats or blankets. There is so much you can do locally if you simply seek out charities that need assistance.

Go Online

With the internet so heavily used today, you can be charitable online as well. Go Fund Me has become a popular go-to when it comes to raising money for worthy causes. When you are able to give back financially, consider looking at pages on the Go Fund Me website. You can find causes that mean something to you and then donate. With the Go Fund Me site, you can also share pages that you come across, so others can donate. The share feature of this site makes it easy to share information and help charitable causes receive the much-needed funds, be it for medical treatments or other needs.

Donate Clothing

One easy way to help charities is to donate your gently used items. Women’s shelters, homeless shelters, and even children’s homes can benefit from clothing. When your family’s closets become too full, consider cleaning them out and donating your best items to these shelters.

This does not cost a dime but has so much meaning and value. It can be hard for shelters to meet the clothing demand needs based on monetary donations. By donating your clothing, you are providing an essential need for the community. Talk to your friends and neighbors too when you plan on donating, so they can become involved as well and you will have even more to give away!

These are just a few examples of how you can be charitable in your local community or beyond. Be open to new opportunities find ways where you can contribute towards causes you feel passionate about.

Personal Fundraising

Of course there are many ways we can set about rasing funds for good causes — and have some fun while we are doing so.

In the last 2 years Colin Fell has completed 7 half marathons and 2 sky dives, raising over USD $10,000.00 for good causes back home in England, UK, while predominantly living in Dubai!
