Veloce Racing & XCDS Will Partner for the Race in Lac Rose, Senegal

At the end of March, we informed you about the partnership of XCDS with the Veloce Racing team in the Extreme E off-road racing series. It is a revolutionary event where only all-electric cars compete in harsh and unusual conditions. The goal of Extreme E is not only to discover the fastest team that is ready to take this challenge but also to support the movement to environmental friendliness.

Did you think that after the first race you wouldn’t see us together? No way! ;) Here’s a comeback that we’ve been excited to tell you about!

We are pleased to announce that our collaboration continues for the second race in Lac Rose, Senegal. The race itself will happen on 29–30 May, so be sure to free up some time to watch this truly extreme event!

XCDS vigorously supports this opportunity, and we would like to highlight that we believe in the same principles:

Want to know more about the location of the second race?

Lac Rose, which can be translated as “Pink Lake” is situated in Senegal, just 30 km from its capital Dakar.

This is the location of the ocean race for the first Extreme E season. It has been chosen for the second race (the first one took place in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia) for a reason. Due to the climate changes, the coastline is losing 3–4 meters annually. Water comes from melting ice, mainly Greenland’s ice cap. It can seem surprising, as it is more than 6500 km away from Senegal, however, this is the impact of the greenhouse effect the entire planet faces.

As more than 30% of CO2 emissions that cause global warming originate from fuel-based vehicles, involving only all-electric cars in racing should show the whole world that such automobiles can be fun, fast and sporty.

What should you expect?

The track will be around 10 km, and its designers carefully selected course options that ensure only exciting racing action.

Salt beds, sand bars, rocks and gravel will make this track a real challenge for Veloce Team we’re partnering with. Nevertheless, we hope that no obstacles in this sandy off-road sight will stop them from coming closer to the victory.
