Fiction Posting Experiment — Day 19

An update on what I’ve (not) been doing

My cogs stopped a little last week.

This part of the experiment follows a period of about a week where I didn’t post anything at all on any of the platforms. I wanted to see what would happen to the pieces I had already published there if I was inactive. OK, let me admit, it wasn’t actually intentional but it’s worth mentioning.

In fairness, I have been writing but I’ve been sending the short stories off to competitions as part of my ‘great submission mission’ and that usually means that I can’t post them online until after the inevitable rejections… Let’s face it, not many people would want to post fiction or short stories every day, so what does actually happen when you don’t post?

Well, as can be expected, I didn’t get much more traction on any of the sites, but I did receive a like and a follower on Inkspired. That means that now Tablo is the only site out of the four where my fiction has gained zero likes and zero love from anyone. I hang my head in disappointment.

Moving ahead, I think I am going to continue posting short stories on Prose and I think I am going to alter my approach to Wattpad to see if it changes anything. I’ve decided to edit and post a first draft YA novel that I wrote a few years ago. I’m not going to worry and fret over every chapter because I think Wattpad is quite forgiving but I do intend to post it regularly and a chapter at a time.

I’ll update you all again next week! :D

Current stats on the sites:

Tablo — zero likes, zero followers, zero love

Inkspired — 1 follower, 1 like

Wattpad — unchanged

Prose — one extra follower from last time but generally unchanged
