Face screwed up with pain, useless right arm hung. Cuts and abrasions stung like mad bees. The ledge he stood on was both saviour and tormentor. It saved him from falling hundreds of feet but dislocated his shoulder.

He’d stood on the edge of the canyon looking on in awe at the sunset. Hearing voices he turned, a figure lunged forward hitting him square in the chest. Fighting for his balance he stumbled over the edge.

He regained consciousness as a vehicle, his vehicle, drove off. Dark. Alone. He shivered with fear, nobody but his tormentors knew he was there.
