The dodo is often used to represent something ridiculous or goofy, unfairly. Dodos were perfectly created for their environment, and it wasn’t until people came in and upset the natural balance that the dodo went extinct — much like our art practice disappeared when people started sticking their noses in and judging the quality of our work.

Did you start creating because you were seeking perfection? Or did your pudgy little fingers gravitate towards the crayons because they were pretty and you felt the need to make something?

Dodo feathers are the unique and irreplaceable creations only you can make. They hold value in their own right, even if unfinished or considered unconventional. They bring you joy and serve as a valuable practice, regardless of what others might think.

They will never be laughed at here. Judgment has no place here.

Here we will create and share and keep our noses out of value judgments. We will hold our practice up for the immense value of creative practice.

Here you can talk about process, link to old stories that are related to it, express your struggles, or celebrate what’s going well.

Remember, everyone has their own artistic practice, and each person’s creative expression holds significance. Let’s encourage and support one another to appreciate and engage in art.
