We are thrilled to announce that Collective Health was named the Best Company to Work For in Rock Health’s “Top 50 in Digital Health” awards.

So, what exactly goes into creating a best place to work?

It begins with our commitment to creating a diverse, inclusive company where employees can grow their careers in an environment that promotes health and wellness.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Since our founding in 2013, we’ve been deliberate in building a company that fosters gender equality. Since our founding, we’ve maintained a ~1:1 female-to-male ratio and this year our People team went through a data-driven process and spent ~$150K to close the gender pay gap at Collective Health. There is a rigorous, ongoing system in place to make sure the pay gap stays closed and we’re continuing to work on eliminating biases that impact hiring, promoting, and retaining women — for example, using Textio to ensure our job postings are not gender-biased.

Our commitment to gender equality is just one part of our larger commitment to diversity. At Collective Health, diversity is more than a buzzword — it’s at the core of our DNA. We’ve built a recruiting program that recognizes the barriers for women and underrepresented minorities in tech and seeks to overcome them. We are a sponsor of /dev/color — a Y Combinator non-profit for attracting, mentoring, and retaining black talent — and we work closely with Code 2040 to recruit engineers. A fixture at recruiting events at historically black colleges and universities, as well as the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference, Collective Health also regularly hosts events for external groups such as Women in Tech and Girls who Code.

To ensure our efforts don’t end at hiring, we have an internal diversity initiative, comprised of volunteers from teams around the company, dedicated to promoting inclusiveness and diversity of all kinds. We have several internal communities — such as Collective Women and Collective Pride (video) groups — that we celebrate and encourage our employees to join (or create a new one)!

PARENTAL SUPPORT

Working parents can thrive at Collective Health, as we offer flexible work schedules and some of the most generous family leave in the industry. We offer all employees — regardless of tenure, gender, residence, or family circumstance — 12 weeks of parental leave with full pay and benefits, along with 16 weeks of optional reduced hours when they return to work. We also make sure our employees use these benefits, by setting an example at the executive level. Most of the members of our executive team have children high school aged or younger, and multiple executives — male and female — have started families while at Collective Health and used their full parental leave.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

Excellent parental leave is just one part of the great benefits package at Collective Health. Employees also enjoy a generous, flexible vacation policy, as well as paid sick and bereavement leave. Of course we understand the value of excellent health benefits, so we’ve designed our health plan and benefits program to ensure comprehensive, affordable coverage. Collective Health pays 100% of the employee premiums for medical, dental, and vision plans, and offers free access to supplemental programs such as One Medical and Joyable. We also provide a monthly wellness stipend that employees can use toward gym memberships, nutritional counseling or other wellness-related expenses.

AT THE OFFICE

Naturally, our focus on health carries into our workspace. The People team spent countless hours making our home not only beautiful and functional, but aligned with our mission of taking care of our people. Collective Health headquarters is built to the WELL building standard and we host weekly onsite yoga, guided meditation classes and “Collective Fit” sessions. Healthy lunches are served daily, in addition to lots of tasty, non-processed snacks. We’re big on ergonomics, so we provide the options of adjustable sit/stand desks, lots of communal seating areas, outside space, and a range of computers, tools, and accessories that suit their specific work best.

CAREER SUPPORT

Last but not least, we want to ensure that all our employees can grow their career here at Collective Health. We host regular internal and external learning and development (L&D) sessions and have a formalized mentorship program — matching internal mentors with mentees — that every employee is invited to participate in.

If you are interested in growing your career at Collective Health, along with a group of mission-driven people committed to reinventing the healthcare experience, please check out our open positions!
