The College Visit: Real as it gets
A key right of passage on the way to #CollegeAdmissions is the campus visit. This is a very critical part of the journey as it bridges the gap between what you make think & what the reality is.
By the summer of your junior year, you want to begin hammering out the list of colleges to which you will apply. Take advantage of every opportunity to visit a college campus. A visit to a college campus can help you decide if the college is right for you. If you scheduled a campus tour, it is usually led by current students. Don’t be shy about asking questions to your tour guide. Also, during the visit, schedule time to be on your own. Walk around the public areas of the college. and ask random students questions that may be relevant to you.
If you cannot arrange a campus visit, browse the web and explore the college’s official website to learn more about different types of colleges. Read through brochures you receive in the spring after taking the PSAT. Try to figure out if your personality is better suited for a small college or large university.
Here is some student feedback how campus visits helped in choosing colleges.
Be prepared, there is no substitute for being in the know.
