Love — Before Some of Us Knew What Gay Was All About
In the old days, the word gay meant happy. Now, no one is thinking of that meaning anymore. Now gay means something that has something to do with homosexuality. I remember when me and all of my school and neighborhood friends didn’t know what gay meant. We showed affection and innocent love for one another. Girls held hands in those days and nobody never looked down on us. When girls held hands in the old days, they were just simply holding hands because they were the best of friends. It had nothing to do with two girls going together. The guys were buddies, and they would all walk together with their arms around each other laughing and talking and playing. Everyone was so innocent.
As we moved up in school to middle school and high school, people knew what gay was all about. Everybody started running from each other. No one showed affection anymore, but there were many willing to have sex. I have seen a lot of guys making girls cry and leaving them pregnant. If you weren’t interested in sex with the opposite sex, people wondered about you. They wanted to say that you were gay or a virgin. Some people were either gay or a virgin, but it was nobody’s business. People were always trying to pry into your private life, and sometimes it became quite scary the way people were doing each other. They tried to pressure you into doing things that you didn’t want to do. There were many that stood their ground and made it into adulthood. Some of us didn’t because some folks died from drugs or aids and there were other reasons too. After high school, we found out about some of our classmates. We didn’t really know what was going on with each other. We didn’t know how sad some folks grew up because they never showed it.
In school, one of my male classmates loved Michael Jordan. I knew that he admired him so for being a basketball star. The guys made fun of him. They ignored the teacher that told them two guys can love one another, and two women can love one another, and that it had nothing to do with being gay all of the time. So I’m not sure if people really understand the meaning of the word love anymore. People get called things that they are not, and there is always confusion now that we know what gay is all about. I wish that the world would have never known, but I can tell you this. Everybody seems to know what sex and lust is all about. Where is the love?
In this day and time, I don’t even hear people singing about love anymore. We live in a sad world and everything is being turned into something bad or corrupt. The more corrupt our world is, the more it will soon end, and when it ends, it will be destroyed with fire. Before we leave this world, we need to show some true love to our friends and family. We need to love the right way.
