Every single day, police officers put themselves in harms way to protect our community. While their daily actions are commendable, police officers do not do their job for acknowledge or accolades, rather, they take solace in knowing someone is safe because of their actions. But every year, the Colorado Springs Police Department gathers together to recognize the courageous actions and significant contributions of department personnel and citizens at the Annual CSPD Awards Ceremony. “ I hope that tonight shows just how much we appreciate you and everything you have done for this community,” said CSPD Chief Vince Niski.

Family, friends, officers, and civilians, packed the Stargazers Theater on Wednesday night to honor the awardees. When speaking about the honorees, Chief Niski said: “As I read through the events that led to these awards, I was reminded, once again, of the bravery and ingenuity displayed by our officers, civilians, dispatchers, and emergency response technicians. I could not be more proud to be your chief.”

Awards included: Citizen’s Award of Appreciation, life Saving Awards, Officer of the Year, Civilian of the Year, Emergency Response Technician Telecommunicator of the Year, Public Safety Dispatcher Telecommunicator of the Year, and more.

We are proud to have so many dedicated men and women go above and beyond in service to our department and the community. Congratulations to every awardee — both sworn and civilian — and citizen.
