The waste disposal crisis in Lebanon: government puts the health of citizens in jeopardy.

Toxic fumes collect in the atmosphere, causing respiratory illnesses. Rain will cause contamination to fall back and pollute ground water reservoirs.

Rain washes garbage piles forcing them into rivers and water streams. Litani, the largest river in Lebanon, clearly shows the effects of such contamination.

Lebanese Minister of Health assures the public that Ministry of Health hospitals are fully prepared to receive large numbers of patients in the event of a disease outbreak.
