I Feel Fantastic

After being presented with a questionable Youtube video last weekend, I have been left wondering about the theory and purpose behind the clips that we, as viewers, find so disturbing that we can’t help but watch them. The video, “I Feel Fantastic”, depicts a fully dressed android repeating the phrase “I feel fantastic… please leave, run run run”. The video’s vague history has allowed for the internet to run with conspiracy theories on the purpose of short movie, including thoughts pointing to a secret confession by a serial killer. Why is it that upon feeling discomfort in film, we can’t turn away? What does our taste in media say about us as a dark, morbid society?
