Work Mindfully is a publication for those who love all related to productivity and psychology. It is about sharing advice about the intersection between what happens in our brains with our performance in life.

Whether you have tips to share, stories to tell, or research to communicate, we want to hear from you. As long as it’s productivity, personal wellbeing, and/or psychology-related, we are happy to add you as a writer.

Do you want to write for Work Mindfully? Read below to find out how.

Submission Guidelines

By submitting work to Work Mindfully, you agree to all the following conditions: Please read carefully!

  • It is up to you how frequently you submit an article, and it does not have to be on a schedule (i.e. weekly, monthly,etc.). However, I ask that your first article be submitted no later than one month after you register.
  • We do accept previously published pieces, however, it will show up in the timeline based on the original publish date, not the date it was added to Work Mindfully publication. If it is from a different site, you must import the story from that site or wherever it was written by following these instructions.
  • Submissions must be properly tagged with at least one of the following: Productivity, Psychology, Physical Wellness, Mental Health, or Motivation. Other tags can be added at your discretion, but one of the above must be included. If one of these is not added, editors will change the tags so one of the above is included. The above tags are for the purpose of categorizing the articles, if you have another suggestion for an additional category, please let me know, and I will consider it.
  • Submissions may be edited for spelling, grammar, and format. We will never change the message of your content. If we have comments, we will send you a private note. However, if I feel that your submission needs significant revision/editing, I will ask you to edit it then resubmit.
  • Submissions must be made through Medium. For more information on the process, please read here.
  • All submissions must include a featured image with proper attribution. The easiest site to use is Unsplash. Other sites include Pixabay and Pexels.
  • Once a story has been published in Work Mindfully, we hope you will keep it there. A lot of time and effort goes into reading and reviewing articles for the publication. If you want to remove the piece, please let us know first. It’s your work so we don’t want to hold it hostage, but we would want to know the reason behind removing it.
  • I review submissions promptly, but there are no guarantees when your work will be published. Please allow up to 72 hours. If you have an intended publication date and time, please let me know via email and I will schedule at the time requested. You can also schedule it prior to submitting to Work Mindfully.
  • Not all submissions may be accepted. A submission may be rejected if it does not fit with the publications theme, or shows very low effort on the part of the writer. In most cases we will later accept the submission if you revise/edit and then resubmit.
  • Please take the time to read Medium’s curation guidelines here, including this important line about titles: Standard headline styling is title case for the headline and sentence case for the subtitle.

Writing Guidelines

  • Word Count: Minimum word count of 400 words (however more is generally better). I will make exceptions however (i.e if the format/organization/subject of your article works better with a lesser word count), please send me an email (runtostudy@gmail.com), or write a comment on your submission letting me know.
  • Headings: When possible, submissions should be split into well-organized sections using correctly formatted section headings.
  • Voice/Mood: Currently Work Mindfully does not have a specific voice/tone required for its articles.
