Live a beautiful life of love

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” -(1 Corinthians 13:4–7).
Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God who came to earth as human as us, soon before His fast approaching Cross did an amazing thing. Let the Scriptures speak themselves about it:
“Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.. It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas. son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.”- (John 13:1–5)
The Son of God, God, stooping humbly at the feet of His disciples was primarily an epitome of humility and servant-hood. But the Scripture above is very clear that it was an act of love, an undying and unending love to common people chosen by the Lord as His disciples. It had also a bigelement of a peculiar and special truth in it. As the story further unfolds, Peter out of and reverence for the Lord just would have none of it, that his Master wash his feet.
The Lord’s answer that he who has bathed need to wash only his feet is an instrumental pointer at the Lord’s “ needful” death, a necessity in the truth of God’s salvation and redemption for mankind. By bath or washing the body that the Lord speaks of a close walk of faith with Him knowing His person as Son of God and Messiah come with the words of eternal life. The Word of God makes our faith and walk pointed in the right direction, but without the atoning power of Christ’s death to put away unbelief and sin, there’s no way we can walk in faith as disciples in intimate love with Him. Only His blood has cleansing power and only by His death can He give us the promised inheritors the inheritance of the life that is in Him.
In effect, the Lord washing the feet of His disciples was of unimaginable humility, servant-hood and love and an unspeakable truth of God dying for us to ransom us from the devil’s dominion. Jesus’ resurrection conquered death and the grave, and His Lordship and Christ-hood with the Father, and poring out the Holy Spirit upon the disciples raises them from their mere lower human life, redeeming them and equipping them with the power of Christs resurrected life, and adopt hem as sons and daughters. This privilege have all the disciples of Christ who put faith in Him and surrender their lives to Him.
Jesus mention or loving command in John 13, to to love one another as He has loved us is to the fulfillment of His heart’s desire to extend His kingdom far and wide is typical of His washing His disciples feet, an act of selfless, self giving, self- sacrificing love that lifts love from mere human and earthly realms to heavenly realms of God’s upon mankind on earth.
“ God is love”, says Apostle John in His First epistle. He goes on to say He who does not know love does not know God, and only in that practice of true and real love would God make a dwelling place; be it in families, fellowships, churches, communities, our Christian services etc.
This love cannot be learned by our efforts or academic exercises of scripture. The font of it is God in Christ and it’s a fruit of the Spirit in an abiding intimate union with Christ and the living Word applied to daily living. It grows in faith journey to the divine nature of Christ-likeness which is our true destiny in God unto eternal life with Him in glory.
Love has many variants, many derivatives and many ways and methods of expressions of them all to make life and love most beautiful in the kingdom. While we have time and before the night comes when no one can work as the Lord has prophesied of the end times, lets live our lives as the very outworking of Christ the Love and truth dwelling us. Love is the fulfillment of the law, does no harm but does immense good. Jesus has commanded us to love our enemies which He did for us on His Cross.
From Him we draw, share among ourselves, and spreads its fragrance to a lost world. As apostle Paul exhorts us, “ May ALL that we do, be done in love.”
As followers of Christ, lets be descriptive of our Lord Jesus Christ of whom it is said in Song of Songs 5:16
His mouth is most sweet, Yes, he is altogether lovely.
This is my beloved, and this is my friend.
May our beloved friend the Lord our God who loves us so, enable and empower us to live a beautiful life like Him for love is the only end-time path of life, of prayer and efforts, loving God and Man.
Hallelujah!
Glory be to God’s Holy Name!
Hallelujah! Amen!
