This week was an interesting week in the world of comics, some had fresh starts (Teen Titans #1) while others had an fitting end (Vision #12). Also, the comics that were chosen this week had to deal with ramifications that happened in the previous arc. We would review Civil War II #6 but….there was no real progression….again.

Detective Comics #943

James Tynion IV is back this week with another very solid issue of the Caped Crusader & The Bat Family. We open our pages to see that there is a Bat logo painted in blood inside of Wayne Enterprise, what does this mean you ask? During the previous evening hours, Luscious Fox ran into a spooky crew of people who decide to call themselves The Victim Syndicate. Carrying on throughout the issue we see most of the ramifications that have taken place from issues #940–943 following the death of Red Robin A.K.A Tim Drake. Stephanie Brown, also known as The Spoiler is effected heavily by these events as she is seen speaking with Bluebird (Harper Row) about the significance and seeking justification on why she wears her cape and cowl as well. We all have seen majority of these characters within Batman’s realm suffer from traumatic loss. We see this trickle effect throughout the pages, which also gives us good substance for story telling within this series because we all know Batman has lost several people throughout his history, we see in the pages himself suffering from the loss of Tim as well due to the fact that he’s an adoptive son. Continuing on, Gotham is holding a charity event to fund the rebuilding partnership between Wayne Enterprises & Gotham City. This event draws forward the return of Batwing (Luke Fox). As the story wraps up, an Explosion occurs and as cliché as this sounds, The Victim Syndicate make a villainous entrance to “Spice” up the party.

Now, to point out a lot of Key things –

Cassandra Cain — who was pretty much the walking psychologist throughout this whole issue noting to Bruce to not run away from this current dilemma at hand which is Tim Drake’s death, but to also console and comfort his family members in crime fighting.

Stephanie Brown — Tim Drake’s grieving girlfriend, who is taking this as hard as Bruce Wayne is.

Detective Comics #944 goes on Sale 11/9/16 Peter Parker

The Ultimates #12

Al Ewing and Christian Ward have gone there. “What’s the “there” you talking about T. Sage?” I mean these two have gone to heights no other Marvel title is touching. Everything from the “Superflow” in between universes, to the literal Outside of the Marvel Universe, and alternate Earth’s were current events transpired differently. The Ultimates combat the impossible, and while sometimes that means each other this book touches nearly every corner of the Marvel Universe in a carefully crafted way. With the aftermath of Civil War 2 behind the team, the five members struggle to pick up the pieces and find themselves again. Ward’s art is unapparelled and like Rocafort before his, it captures everything worthwhile about the series that handles the politics of what a powerful and volatile team such as The Ultimates means for “the war that is to come” and that goes double for the Earth-bound menaces that are rallying to hinder the team.

Ultimates #12 demands your attention from the journey of Galactus, the Life Bringer and his new Herald…to the destruction and reconstruction of The Ultimates that will be seen in full form next month in the new title The Ultimates Squared! — Terrence (@SageTerrence)
