Comix is inching close to a real product launch this year. As we move in that direction, I would like to start putting some structure to our business model in place.

We are an indie company, a company of 2 at the moment. We’re extremely passionate about comics, especially indie comics. So much so, that we’ve worked on the production of an anthology and contributed to it.

Big platforms like Comixology, while promising a big audience, leave indie comics to compete directly with big comic syndicates and publishers. Furthermore, with the hefty fee, a maker ends up paying nearly 80% of the earnings to the platform. We want to turn the tables on them.

The business model for comix is really simple. We have absolutely no listing fee. Our fee is really simple, a flat 15% of the comic’s cover price.

We use this fee to cover the cost of development, design, hosting. It helps us keep our lights on and also invest in the future of the site.
