The Victoria Dream

I’ve been described as a dreamer and a person that has a lot of big dreams for my future. I think of myself as that kind of dreamer, but also as one who dreams every night while sleeping. Since I am a person that loves Hollywood and celebrities, they are frequent cast members in my dreams. I always dream of meeting and/or hanging out with different celebrities and having them become really good friends of mine. Now, I know that this probably may never happen in reality, but a guy can dream, can’t he?? (Pun intended)

One such dream stands out that I’d like to share. In 2006, I started watching a show called Zoey 101 on Nickelodeon. It starred Jamie-Lynn Spears, Britney Spears’ younger sister, but one cast member instantly caught my eye and that was Victoria Justice. Victoria played the role of Zoey’s friend and roommate Lola and I instantly liked her. There was no twitter in those days so I couldn’t follow or send a message, but I always dreamed of the day where I got the chance to meet her. I was just a stupid 13-year old at that time, so there was no way I was ever gonna meet her. However, in the words of Justin Bieber…”Never Say Never!”

In 2012, I heard that Victoria, who now had her own show and a successful singing career, was going on tour and would be at the Erie County Fair in Hamburg, NY in August. I knew that the time had come to finally see her in person, but I wanted one step higher. I asked my mom for VIP meet and greet passes. At first, that was out of the question, but I told her that I’d be graduating high school and that would be a great graduation present…she liked that idea and got the $150 tickets.

Once the show ended, all of us were whisked to the VIP area where we would get the chance to meet Vic. Honestly, I don’t ever get starstruck but this time, I think I was gonna be defeated in that category. I was one of the first in line and my heart began to race as each person made their way over and talked for a few minutes with Victoria. Then..came my turn.

She gave me a big hug and asked how I liked the show. I told her I loved it and that I’ve been a huge fan ever since Zoey. In the picture above, I flash the lanyard and say that I’m a high school graduate and that my gift was to see her in person. I’ll never forget the huge smile that came across her face. Before I knew it, my time was up and I got rewarded with another big hug.

I will never forget that day as long as I live and this truly made me believe that dreams really do come true.
