What I do
What I do is my hobby, passion and profession. It gives me identity. When I’m asked to introduce myself I always go by the same outline: my name, where I’m from, where I am, what I study. Almost nobody ever asks “what do you do in your free time.” Isn’t that what really shapes who we are?
I love spending time with people who are passionate about something. I have been very lucky to grow up in an environment of truly passionate people, that I respect, look up to and that I get to call my family. My parents and my sister love what they do and idea of being better is one of the things that drives them.
I am a guitar player, composer, producer, sound designer, engineer and a DJ. It all started as a hobby and turned into a profession. When I was seven I got my first guitar. It was a gift from my dad. I remember being extremely happy, because I have seen my dad play and I wish I could do that too. Making sounds, creating music was incredible to me yet it seemed like black magic, since I had no idea how to do it. My dad initially trained me and in elementary school I created a band called X-Mission.
X-Mission was an incredible experience. We sticked together for over 7 years and made many unforgettable memories. Each of us motivated one another to be better. However we all knew the priority, which was education. All of us had different ideas about where we wanted to go, one thing became obvious we could not continue playing together.
At that time it seemed like the end of the world because we devoted so much time and passion into playing together that the idea of not seeing each-other for even more then a year seemed distant. When we all split to go to collage in the different parts of the world we still continued to make music, but individually.
Using the knowledge I gained over the seven years of composing and hanging out in the studios I started producing and composing my own pieces, and I feel in love with the craft and sound design aspect of it in electronic music. The more I learned the more I knew I didn't know. Worst part, it hasn't stopped. To this day it drives me insane.
Over the past few years I had time to learn more and more about the craft of music production. I had an honor of meeting people that I look up to and learning from them. That is the highlight of music production for me. Working with people you admire and watching them, trying to remember as much information as possible.
At work I put the knowledge I gathered around and every time my goal is to out do myself. Whenever I feel like I have had enough, or when I don’t know what do, I find aspects of the song to push further. At this point I trust my ears but know that I can be a lot better and that I need a lot more training.
