Enthymeme King

In Donald Trump’s speeches his way of describing things is that of explanation and self determination. In his speeches he uses this to make the listener or reader determine for themselves what he actually means. The article I choose talked about one of his best speeches that he gave.

In his speech one of his things he said was “ What do you have to lose by trying something new? I will fix it watch, I will fix it. We have nothing to lose. Nothing to lose. It is so bad. The inner cities are so bad, you have nothing to lose. They have been playing with you for 60, 70, 80 years, many, many decades. You have nothing to lose. I will do a great job.”

It is very enthymemeic, you don’t know what there is to lose. You don’t know what he is trying to fix from this part of the speech. It has to do with the inner cities and that it has been going on for 60 to 80 years. He also says that he will do a good job at fixing this, but what is he fixing? In inner cities he could be talking about crime, drugs, or the education issues. One doesn’t know but can make these assumptions that is what he is talking about.
