Trumps Decrease on Federal Workers Pay
Many of us Americans voted trump in to “fix” certain conflicts within the United States, but according to the CNN, a more conservative view, Trump isn’t holding up to his promises. This article talks about how Trump came in as a “populist”, meaning he was seeking the American people’s wants and need and putting them into perspective. For example, as stated in the articles, the middle class has severely been forgotten and in need of some attention. Since he has been in office, his recent proposal is to cut on the pay raises for Federal workers.
As Trump explains his reasonings as to why he wants to decrease his pay raises for Federal workers, he says, “We must maintain efforts to put our nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases.” This statement makes sense but I can see where CNN is coming from, they’re being very conservative with their view of Trumps efforts on decreasing pay.
Basically what CNN is saying is that they don’t want the people who work on the air traffic to be tired due to lack of sleep by working 3 jobs to stay financially on track. They also don’t want somebody who is working in the social security department to screw up due to feeling faint on lack of food. Which I don’t blame them considering their jobs depends on our lives!
With this pay decrease CNN basically explains how it will diminish the need to work hard.
According to a more liberal view, ABC news has a different take on the pay raises to federal workers. Even though they’re “canceling” pay raises, there’s still a slight chance to see a smaller boost in pay (2.1%). I feel this demonstrates a more liberal view because it shows that they are open to that slight chance of a boost in pay rather than being hopeless.
This article also included Trumps opinion, “We must maintain efforts to put our nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases.” Which was also stated in the CNN article above.
Trump also said in this article that the Federal workers boost on pay will be based on “performance and designed to recruit and reward high-performing Federal employees and those with critical skill sets.” Which is a smart move considering this implies work ethic and strive to work harder and improve America.
After all, Trump is all about “Making America Great Again.”
