The Unscripted Kiss

Stranger Things. Who hasn’t seen this amazing Netflix Original? In season two we see the kids at the Snowball Dance. Everyone gets their kisses, but there’s a lot more behind the scenes. One of those kisses were unscripted, and not to mention unwanted by the actress.

Sadie Sink, who plays Max in season 2 of Stranger Things tells of how the kiss came about. It started at the joke, but then when they realized how nervous she was they decided to actually make her and her costar Caleb McLaughlin kiss.

The thought of this makes me a bit uneasy, especially as the director jokingly says “it’s your fault.” He tells her it’s her fault they had to kiss because of the way she reacted to her joke.

Unscripted kisses happen every now and then, that’s not really a problem. However, this is a child. It’s her first kiss, as well as Caleb’s, and ultimately she wasn’t originally planning on it and she really didn’t want to do it. What are we to make of this?
