This summer we are starting an internship program at Common Good. This is a great opportunity for someone who is genuinely excited by being an integral part of a team working at the intersection of Service, Experience, Product and Interaction Design. If you are a graduate or a collaborative learner familiar with design, this might be for you…

We are looking for someone interested in the human-centred design approach to creating innovative products and services. We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • like to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • wish to build skills in research and design methodologies
  • aspire to think and design strategically and with purpose
  • understand the importance of feedback and testing

The ideal person/s would:

  • be interested in trends, markets and people
  • be curious and excited about digital and the world around us
  • be confident to communicate and engage in teams
  • enjoy working with people with different skillsets
  • enjoy storytelling and sharing
  • have the appetite to work in a startup environment and be a part of the team culture
  • be a self-motivated learner with a passion to know more about research, prototyping and strategic design.

What does it look like?

  • The internship will run for 3 months (starts June)
  • This is a paid full-time role
  • You will primarily work in our studio on Sackville Street, Manchester but also in the field speaking to customers

The structure of the internship will follow our design process — research, ideation, prototyping, testing and defining a clear product strategy. You will work together with another intern to a defined brief to create a customer-centric prototype and strategy.

You will have an assigned mentor to help facilitate and coach, whilst also having the opportunity to learn from the rest of the team and understand what, how and why we do things.

The result? A great new set of skills and an amazing portfolio piece of work you will be proud of.

Who should apply

We’re looking for evidence of your thinking and process in your work, but most importantly we believe empathy is fundamental to creating design that matters. We’d love to see a meaningful approach to a piece of work and a demonstration of your ability to think about an end to end product, service or experience.

Sound interesting? Get in touch and tell us why this might be for you.
