The Power of Presence

The Commons Church will hit the streets on mass this coming October 30th. We will be present in our community throughout the morning. How?
Talk to your Table Group, work with another Table Group or just partner with another family or two. Be invitational, very invitational. This is the event you invite friends, neighbors, family, or coworkers to participate in.
- Help an elderly neighbor rake leaves
- Clean up a park
- Adopt a nursing home
- Serve a single mom with a fix-up project
- Prayer walk or drive through a neighborhood and listen to the Holy Spirit.
- Bless families at a laundromat by providing snacks and coffee and free laundry detergent.
- Support a local restaurant or coffee shop by inviting a bunch of friends or families to come together to share a meal and leave a very generous tip.
- Create and deliver blessing baskets for the local hospital
When planning, think about ways you can repeat this effort, stay in touch with people you helped, or find new ways to bless the same space. Be intentional in the moment. Pray for the people you are serving, and ask if you can pray with them. Get to know them and keep them in prayer. Tell them why you are out in the community. Share God’s love for them.
On the 30th begin with prayer, pray throughout your efforts, and join us at the church at noon to share your experience as we celebrate the Holy Spirit at work, and pray for His continued presence in the spaces we have served and hope to continue serving.
Look for weekly information on the how and why. Take a Power of Presence Packet on October 16th.
