[Blah-Chain : Talk21. Nonce]

According to what we have talked so far, the Block header includes hash value, timestamp, nonce, etc. We learned about hash and timestamp, then what is the nonce?

A nonce is an arbitrary number in the blockchain system, and it’s essential when it comes to Blockchain. However, why is it that essential?

To prevent forging blockchain data, blockchain requires hash value which is a unique value. Moreover, the hash value is created from the arbitrary number.

In the Blah chain talk3, we’ve talked that mining means to solve complicated problems or decode to maintain networks in the blockchain system.

Then what is the problem they try to solve?

When a block is created, the block includes a group of transactions and an arbitrary number. Moreover, miners are kind of recorders in the Blockchain system and to record it, they need to find out the number.

In the blockchain system, the reward is given to the first person who finds out a nonce, the arbitrary number which matches the hash value. In conclusion, a nonce is a value to find out the hash value.
