2018 has been quite a year for Moncur!

Over the last year, we’ve partnered with a number of new clients and grown our relationships with our existing clients. We have had exciting opportunities to help our clients go public (our work made its Times Square debut!), navigate multiple acquisitions, expand into new markets, and evolve their brands. Of course, throughout it all, we helped them communicate beautifully.

Internally, we have brought multiple new and talented individuals onto our team. Together, we’ve shared laughs at office happy hours, countless containers of garlic sauce from CK’s, and a few late nights going above and beyond for our clients.

All in all, it’s been a great year filled with new challenges and growth. In reflection of the year that is soon to be behind us, we’ve asked our team to share their favorite projects of 2018. See the highlights below!

Origin Travel Nurses Website

Michelle Walton, Art Director

Origin Travel Nurses was a really fun project. We supported the client with a branding and website initiative. This began by presenting several logo concepts which led into designing, developing, and launching a full website — all while keeping the timeline in mind to launch as soon as possible and allow the client to begin their recruiting journey. They were incredibly happy with the results of everything and the project could not have been a more successful end to the year. View the website at originnurses.com.

Electrification Messaging

(Myself) Megan Zale, Senior Copywriter / Strategist

As the automotive industry continues to rethink the way we move the world, one of our clients — a tier 1 automotive supplier — was caught in the crosshairs of change. The shift towards vehicle electrification, in particular, was pushing the company to expand its offering — and they needed help communicating their capabilities in this emerging space. Moncur had the incredible opportunity to help them do just that. Early in the year, our team participated in a whopping 26 interviews with company leaders to gain insights into the organization’s electrification strategies and capabilities. I then took that intel, combined it with piles of research, and crafted a communication guide that the company’s internal teams and external marketing agencies could use anytime they needed to talk about, write about, or sell their electrification capabilities.

What was even cooler, though, was the fact that this guide acted as the foundation to a majority of the company’s key communications over the course of the year. The messages that we created made their way into press releases, presentations, ads, videos, and even a new website. To see my work trickle through so many outlets was so exciting. And even better, this communication guide helped our client not only communicate more clearly and consistently, it helped position them as a leader in the electrification movement.

IEA Collateral

Laynie Perry, Junior Content Designer

IEA was a big part of my year! Starting with designing a really fun overview brochure, we worked our way across social media design, video creation, tons of collateral, trade show pieces, and storyboarding — building a very rewarding portfolio of work for this company! My brain was half green, half blue, and the creativity involved with the work for this client was a 2018 highlight. I worked closely with our creative and account teams to put out the best quality work. All of it helped me become a stronger designer, and helped make IEA an even stronger brand! I’m incredibly proud of the work Moncur did for IEA this year. On to the next adventure! ☺

Website Subpage Designs

Marty Smith, Art Director

Being a recent addition to the Moncur team, I’ve merged into ongoing projects and tasks throughout the back end of 2018. One of the more intriguing assignments I assisted in was designing a ‘Product Details’ page for one of our clients’ pre-existing websites.

Exploring new software and aligning my design process with our back-end developers was a great learning experience. Also, reviewing, assessing and refining visual components in sync with website responsiveness to create a clean, user-friendly experience was very satisfying.

I’m looking forward to taking on even more complex projects in the new year!

Pinkerton Website

Drew Sawmiller, Senior Copywriter

One of more the more interesting, and I’ll admit more fun, projects to work on this year was the re-branding and new website launch for Pinkerton. Yes, those folks you see pop up in westerns from time to time. It was fascinating to learn about their storied history and evolution as a company, as well as their involvement in establishing certain aspects of our current US government. It was even more fascinating to learn about (and disseminate information about) their innovations with cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Big Data science. Truly amazing stuff.

Beyond that, it was exciting to take an established brand and help bring it into today’s modern digital landscape. The new website is visually stunning, very robust, very informative, peppered with relevant content and intriguing data visualizations. The site continues to evolve as does our understanding of the company, their current and prospective clients, and the real-world business issues Pinkerton is poised to help manage.

Check out the website at www.pinkerton.com and the risk map we created—one of the more interesting data visualization tools we implemented.

Electrification White Paper

Mike McConnell, Senior Copywriter

Shortly after joining the Moncur team, I was able to help a tier 1 auto supplier communicate about the fast-growing trend of vehicle electrification.

In particular, I had the opportunity to write a white paper aimed at engineers who design electrified vehicle powertrains. The process involved plenty of research, interviews with experts, and of course, revisions. I learned a lot about the current state of electric vehicle design and what’s to come. The result was a document that was praised by the client for the quality of its writing. The paper is to be translated to be read by engineers in Germany.

I’m excited to see what types of projects I work on in 2019.

Ruby+Associates Bourbon, Beer, and BBQ Event Concepts

Michelle Walton, Art Director

Helping Ruby create a look and feel for their annual Bourbon, Beer, and BBQ event is one of my favorite projects every year. This year’s concept was a clean, simple, minimalist approach to design with an out-of-the-box printing technique—we were able to produce our invitations on real wood sheets! Both the client and event attendees were just as excited as we were with the stunning result. Recently, we presented Ruby with concepts for their 2019 event—which will be extra special since it will be the company’s 35th anniversary.

Strike Subsidiary Websites

Jen Cooper, Senior Designer

Strike, a leading pipeline, facilities, and energy infrastructure company, acquired a number of companies in the past few years which has significantly changed their brand. With our support, Strike began the strategic process of rebranding, and it was time to get their sub-brands on board. During this process, we were asked to create websites for each of them. The challenge was to create a unique look and feel for each sub-brand (which are all part of the same industry), while at the same time incorporating the Strike branding. By digging deep to understand each company inside and out, we were able to successfully create three unique, but unified subsidiary websites. The websites reflect each company’s individual personality with striking photography, insightful messaging and simple yet intuitive functionality. Each delivers a strong presence, building trust from the viewers, which in turn builds trust in the Strike family of companies. The subsidiary websites are slated to launch in 2019. Now, you can view the Strike website at strikeusa.com.

And that’s a wrap! Happy New Year to all of our readers—we look forward to all that 2019 has in store!
