October is a time when we dust off our jackets, bring out the “Han Solo” boots (ladies), and nestle up while we watch the leaves change colors. It’s also a time when Team Moncur celebrates our Halloween Happy Hour! Before we continue, if you’re freaked out about creepy crawlers, blown up pterodactyls, or Steve Irwin handling giant pythons then beware, this blog might not be for you!

Now what tees us off for the perfect Halloween Happy Hour? Well it begins with setting the mood: Bobby Pickett’s Monster Mash on the overhead speaker, a spooky but spectacular table display of gourds, candles, and a lonely skeleton who misplaced 60 of his eight-legged friends around the office. It was just what we needed to kick off our “Moncur Mash”!

But we can’t call it a true happy hour if we don’t have food and drinks, right? Pizza and salad were provided to accompany our hand-crafted, Halloween-themed cocktails. We had a delicious Apple Cider Margarita made with tequila, freshly squeezed lemon juice, apple cider, and garnished with fresh apple slices. A purple potion was concocted named after the classic song “Purple People Eater,” made with vodka, cranberry juice, blue curacao, sweet and sour mix, and topped with grenadine. You can’t forget the purple sugar to line the rim to give the perfect amount of sweet (might have been my favorite part). And one of my favorites, the Oreo White Russian. I think the title speaks for itself, this amazing drink contained vodka, honey, coffee liqueur, crushed Oreos and milk. Who doesn’t love milk and cookies?

With food in our bellies, drinks in our hands, and laughter in our ears, it was time to get this party started!

I’m sure it’s no surprise having a Halloween party means dressing up in your funky costumes and having a costume contest, because that’s exactly what we did. Costumes of all different types were carefully analyzed and evaluated (we take this very seriously). Votes were based on funniest, scariest, and most creative. Now being a branding agency with a very talented creative team, you can imagine the wide range of creativity that was put into these costumes.

The first winner for funniest costume went to our Project Manager, Patrick Love, as the inflatable Pterodactyl. I mean, how could you not laugh?

Our next winner for scariest costume went to our Office Manager, Melanie Singh, as Duela Dent from the DC Comics. If you ask me, Melanie absolutely knocked it out of the park with her costume. She did a wonderful job on her makeup. Maybe a Joker in the making?

The last winner for most creative went to…myself, as Kris Jenner. How I decided on wanting to be Kris Jenner and buying a wig, cutting it, borrowing a friend’s purse, and buying women’s clothes to finish the costume was quite ridiculous, but I won. Worth it.

The next day, on Halloween, we kept the festivities rollin’ by having a pumpkin decorating contest. Time to get creepy, crawly, and creative! After a few hours the results were in and the pumpkins were spook-tacular! Our judge Heather K. had a hard decision to make. But the winner of the pumpkin decorating was… drumroll please…Kaitlyn’s prehistoric dinosaur pumpkin! Congratulations Kaitlyn!

After the contests, some good laughs, and a lot of candy later, the festivities came to an end. Looking back on the holiday, I think I can speak for everyone for how wonderful the two-day party was! None of this would have been possible without the hard work of our Office Manager Melanie Singh, and of course Moncur’s leadership team for hosting the event! The efforts that were put into decorating and coordinating were to extreme lengths and we all highly appreciate your hard work, thank you! This concludes our Moncur Mash Halloween Happy Hour, I hope you enjoyed!
