These are the sketches I did for the pair I didn’t end up using.

For rigid, I came up with these designs.

Then I tried them out in illustrator and played around with them.

I ended up not loving the ones I came up with for rigid, so I focused on my designs for fluid.

I came up with more designs as I played around in illustrator.

I ended up liking this last one a lot, and actually decided to introduce cohesive elements to my pairs. I wanted to contrast the rigid-fluid pair as much as possible because none of my other designs for rigid came across very clearly. I thought big steady blocks contrasted the movement in the curves of the fluid version. The center lines are parallel and at the exact same position on the artboard and the color is used to highlight the similarities.

These were my initial sketches for clumsy and grateful

These are the digital iterations.

I realized these were all very obvious designs for clumsy so I didn’t settle on any of them. I started working on my designs for graceful instead. These are the digital iterations.

I ended up liking this last design for graceful and decided to make the pair cohesive by making the clumsy version fill in the circle, while still being clumsily thrown into the circle and partially spilling out.

I came up with a figure/ground that I liked but they used squares to make a face and I found out I couldn’t do that so I came up with some more abstract ones instead.
