The Studio Ghibli Festival seeks to celebrate the founding of Studio Ghibli by featuring some of their most acclaimed films — Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Spirited Away. Founded on June 15th, 1985, Studio Ghibli is by far the most internationally known Japanese animation studio, with over 20 animated features and hundreds of works in other forms of animation, 8 features of which fall amongst the top 15 highest-grossing animated features from Japan. Known for their masterful storytelling and insightful commentary on environmentalism, feminism, pacifism, and childhood growth, Studio Ghibli continues to illuminate both their viewers minds and hearts.
