Exercise: Hierarchy
2/12/19
On this exercise, I was not able to use roman weight for the texts because I could not find the specific weight. I worked with light, medium, and bold.
I personally feel that line spacing really helps this text to be clear, since there are multiple events listed. Changing the style of the font did not really change the overall delivery of the text.
Horizontal shift was the one that surprised me the most, because I was not expecting the content to be organized without any spacing lines since there are many events listed, but the horizontal shift was one of the most effective way to organized the text.
Adding line spacing between every lines of text was not too effective way to organize the text. Since the text is equally distributed, it is hard for the readers to recognize which information goes with which. Even with different typo graphic weight, I feel like this is one of the ineffective design.
Since there are no line spacing, I used bold and light to create the most contrast and emphasize the important content. Since the guests and lectures are the most important information in the text, I bolded the event name, date, and the guest lecturer to keep them separated from basic information such as address of CMU campus.
