Project #1

A few random candids.

My name is Samara McCallum and I am a Freshman Information Systems major. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York and I currently live on the Hill.

Effective Communication Design

A Flyer Found in the University Center.

This flyer represents good communicative design because it is short, simple and to the point. The colors are also bold (to catch one’s attention) and arguably attractive (to keep one’s attention once it is caught).

Ineffective Communication Design

My example of ineffective communicative design is these screenshots from the US Debt Clock website. This website updates by the moment and shows the amount of debt different parts of the world is in. This site contains a lot of information and it’s design makes it hard for someone new to understand and gather information from. While it does seem to make good use of color (with red presumably representing the “bad” and green representing the “good”, it fails to show any type of visual hierarchy. On top of this, the mobile website (to the left) has a wider screen than the computer website (to the left) which is inefficient as computer screens are much wider than mobile screens.
