Grid Exercise

For this exercise I chose to bring in Carnegie Mellon’s Music Magazine: The Cut Magazine’s Dec 2015 spread of album reviews and Grimes” and “Beach Slang.”

Being able to trace the grid lines really showed me how structured and simple the magazine spread was, yet also how effective it is in providing information on the top 5 albums of the month and general opinions and thoughts on two concerts.

I first tackled the album side (right side of spread) because I felt the grid was more clear. I divided the page into a 3 grid layout. The left page was also pretty clear but after completing the grid exercise I realized that the page should have been divided into 5 sections not 4.
