3. City Sculptures

Artist: Teresita Fernández (installation artist and sculptor)

About the artist: As her bold outdoor project at Madison Square Park and her solo exhibition at Mass MoCA attest, Fernández’s work is known for its stunning and immersive grandeur. Last summer, Fernández brought the largest sculptural installation ever to Madison Square Park, ‘Fata Morgana’, which is a monumental, golden, mirror-polished canopy that hovers over the walkways in the park. It is meant to distort the surroundings and function as a luminous portrait of urban activity. (NYPost) Come join us at Madison Square Park to check out more of her works!

When: Sunday, December 11th, 12pm — 4pm

Where: Madison Square Park, NY

Tickets: Free to public. No tickets required.

At first, I had Beauty Slap as one of the artists performing at my festival, but I realized I wanted a strong theme and connection between my events. I’m planning to make this festival a reflection of New York City arts.

Artist: Beauty Slap

About the artist: Originating from Pittsburgh, Beauty Slap describes themselves as an electro-brass-thunder-funk machine, comprised of computer, horns, and keys. They mix the thunderously funky screams of a traditional brass quartet with the heaviest grooves modern dance music has to offer. Check out more of their videos and performances at their website, http://thebeautyslap.com/.

When: Saturday, December 10th, 3pm — 5pm

Where: Flushing Meadows Corona Park, NY

Tickets: $12 General admission, $6 Children under 12, $10 Students with valid ID: Purchase tickets at http://empirearts.com.
