She is a female Ugandan from eastern region-Soroti district, Arapai village, an iteso by tribe, born on 18/August/1996 to the family of the late Okello Benjamin and Mrs. Adoyo Janifer in a family of six where she is the fourth born.

She studied her primary at Aloet primary School Soroti f rom 2003 to 2009 and later joined secondary at St. Mary’s Girls school Soroti from 2010 to 2015 and currently at Makerere University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and communication majoring in communication in her final year.

In her third year, she interned at Voice of Teso, a radio station in Soroti where she worked as a presenter and because of her good performance and working relation during her internship, she is still given a chance to practice her professional every holiday at the radio station. She is an introvert and yet approachable lady who is so passionate about God and religion. she is a hard working lady who believes in her potential and abilities which makes her unique because she has self-esteem.

Growing up with a single mother, Akiya has learnt how to be self responsible and hardworking. She has earned herself different awards in different fields of academics due to her hard work, active participation and good leadership skills. Among this awards includes a certificate in Public speaking from Makerere University, Uganda national students association and psychology of relationships from Makerere university. all thee have built her personality both mentally and physically

She portrays good character values in disciples and moral values, respectable and respects others, hardworking and time conscious. her hobbies are reading novels, shopping, listening to music, singing, watching and travelling. She has the chance and opportunity to become the next public relations officer of Voice Of Teso due to her close working relation and experience at the radio station.
