THE TEA GIRL

Anthea Ibembe is a fourth year student at Makerere University pursuing a bachelor degree in journalism and Communication.

After six months of mentorship, Anthea Graduated as a fellow of the media challenge initiative.

Anthea attended Green hill junior school for her primary education then went to Gayaza high school for both ordinary and advanced level then joined Makerere university in 2016. While at Gayaza High school, Anthea was the president of the food and nutrition club .In 2018 she participated in the Media challenge initiative where she is currently a fellow. In the 2018 geopolitics organized by the French Embassy she participated in a writing contest where she won a scholarship for the academic year 2019/2020. She is also got free French lectures at Alliance France from the French Embassy . In 2015 she was a student Panelist at the New Vision Budget reading.

Anthea has worked at S 24 a business television station lactated in Ntinda Kampala Uganda between. Anthea is also a good writer in 2015 She was a Writer for Gayaza High School News Desk .In 2018 she was the editor in chief Makerere Games Union monthly Newsletter .

She is also very active o her social media platforms like Twitter where is a known activist. At the beginning of 2020 she actively participated in the hash tag expose the rapist.

Besides academic achievements at the age of 17 in 2015 she participated in the Junior Achievement business challenge which portrayed her passion for business. At 20 years Anthea was able to start a company of her own called APA holdings a tea manufacturing company in Uganda with wide ranges of tea including mint tea, detox green tea, hibiscus tea and kisubi tea. Anthea blends fuse teas for a living and this passion for tea has turned in to a business. In 2017 she attended the UGANDA-UK CONVENTION TROXY in Oxford where she was a vendor selling tea . Her passion for tea stems from the father MR Patrick Ibembe who runs a similar business. She was first employed by her dad as the Director of Operations in charge of Production, Sales and Marketing Because of her extroverted nature she can sell her tea to just any body. Through this exposure , experience and passion Anthea has been able to run her own company that is thriving. Her tea is sold in Kampala’s biggest supermarkets like capital shoppers and mega standard. Her friends often refer to her as THE TEA GIRL due to her undying passion for tea and coffee.

After graduating at Makerere University She hopes to expand her business and start to supply tea internationally and country wide. Through selling tea, Anthea has been able to buy her first car and employ 20 people she also hopes to buy land soon.
