Communities for Future Session #2— In collaboration with Humanity Rising Global Solutions Summit
Join us on Monday NOV 9th 2020, 1700–1900 CET for our webinar and discussion:
Communities for Future — catalyzing societal transformation through community-led action
In collaboration with Humanity Rising Global Solutions Summit, we will showcase the transformative potential of community-led action on climate change and sustainability. We will give voice to the movements of Ecovillages, Permaculture, and Transition, which comprises the backbone of Communities for Future, the new Europe-wide action program spearheaded by ECOLISE.
We will hear about approaches and accomplishments that local communities take in responding to the challenges of our time. We explore together what are the prerequisites for catalyzing effective community-led action on a local level and how this can contribute to systemic transformation within and across society.
We are delighted to present to you our three inspiring speakers, each from a different corner of Europe, each bringing in their unique perspective on inspired and empowered community-led action.
- Filipa Pimentel from Portugal is our representative of the Transition Network, where she works as a coordinator of the National Transition Hubs circle.
- Alisa Dendro, resident of Suderbyn ecovillage, Sweden, and president of the Baltic Ecovillage Network speaks for the ecovillage movement.
- Alexandru Tudose represents the permaculture movement. He works for the Permaculture Research Institute (Institutul de Permacultura) in Romania.
This session is open for anyone and it’s ideal for people who are not yet very familiar with the different community-led movements. The session consists of two parts. First, we offer a 1,5 hours long webinar. This is a moment for you to lean back, listen, and get inspired by our presenters — and then to share your burning questions and points of interest with them in a Q&A. Next, we move into a discussion space between the participants for about 30 minutes. This offers you the opportunity to meet and greet other participants, share insights and personal experiences as well as ask any remaining questions that you might have for the presenters.

What are the ‘Communities for Future Sessions’ about?
Through this new series of monthly online sessions, we will co-create an open space for multilateral networking, learning, and collaboration. It is an invitation to come together across different groups, sectors, and individuals that are, or aspire to be, connected to the European Action Programme Communities for Future; to European community-led initiatives; to ECOLISE — the European Network for Community-led Initiatives on Climate Change and Sustainability; to related Communities of Practice — and to the many many beautiful and inspiring individuals that are part of these groups.
This initiative is part of ECOLISE’s desire to hear from its members and to offer spaces for individuals in our networks to connect with each other and organize themselves as a living and breathing network of changemakers — independently as well as under the new Communities for Future framework. We envision that as we weave together our diverse expertise and visions, a broader systemic understanding begins to emerge and we can identify new pathways towards widespread societal transformation.
