Campfire Conversations

You’re invited to a campfire conversation.

It might sound a little twee but going back hundreds of years people have gathered around fires to talk and discuss shared issues and work collectively to make plans. The campfire was the centre of the village where people listened to each other and spoke their truth, until wisdom from the circle emerged and the people knew what action was needed. Many indigenous communities still work in the same way.

We might not be able to offer an actual campfire, but we can recreate the conditions that enable people to have conversations that matter. Conversations that help us take collective responsibility and stewardship of our communities, going beyond our personal or organisational interest; creating space where we can teach and learn from each other.

As Margaret Mead wrote…

“The world is going to change so fast that people and governments will not be prepared to be stewards of change. What will save them is teaching-learning communities…”

With this in mind, you are invited to join the first of a series of campfire conversations on Tuesday 29th October 6pm — 8pm. The theme will be ‘Social Change in Unpredictable Times’.

The campfire will be held at The Long Table, Brimscombe Port, Stroud, GL5 2QQ.

Dinner is provided for this event on a pay as you feel basis. So we know how many to cater for, please let us know in advance if you are intending to join us.

We also invite you to bring your partners, colleagues and friends as we know their contributions will bring new perspectives.
