The Art Of Living Foundation

In the day and age where crimes occur almost every hour, it is almost impossible to think that there is hope. There is terror all around, with calamities, disasters happening in every corner of the world hope is now replaced by another four lettered word — fear.

But every now and then life gives us another chance, providing us with beacons of hope in human form every few generations.

Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King are some of the great minds that might as well have shaped the future of our world.

Following this line is the beacon of our generation — Sri Sri Ravishankar, a man whose mission is to spread the idea of inner peace and happiness — one step at a time.

The Art of Living Foundation (AOL) is a Non-Governmental Organisation founded in 1981 by Ravi Shankar, which also works in a special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ( born on 13 May 1956 in Papanasam, a small town in Tamil Nadu, India) is an Indian spiritual leader, who is often referred to as Gurudev or also ‘Sri Sri’. He believes that the spiritual bond we share as part of the human species is more prominent than any nationality, gender, religion, or other labels which separate each other.

The programs are guided by his philosophy of peace, which states that — “Unless we have a stress-free mind and a violence-free society, we cannot achieve world peace.”

He has also visited many places for his humanitarian work, some of them include places like Pakistan and Iran wherein he inaugurated Art of Living centres.
In 1992, He also started a prison programme which aimed to rehabilitate prison inmates and help them integrate into society.
In Sri Sri Ravishankar’s point of view, “Violence-free society, disease-free body, quiver-free breath, confusion-free mind, inhibition-free intellect, trauma-free memory, and sorrow-free soul is the birthright of every human being.”
Sri Sri Ravishankar has a huge following all over the world, and many communities both online and offline believe that the teachings of Sri Sri should be spread around so that everyone lives in peace and harmony.
