How to Find Canon Printer Model Number
A guide on how to find the printer model of your Canon Inkjet and LaserJet printer.
Knowing your Canon printer model number helps you get services and information designed specifically for your printer. It also helps avoid future issues or conflicts. One example is in purchasing Canon ink or toner cartridges. Knowing what your printer model is will save you from the hassle of ordering the wrong cartridges, damaging your printer, wasting time and funds, and other possible issues.
A Canon printer name is composed of the brand + printer series + model number. Canon Pixma MG2522, for example. The brand is Canon, the printer series is Pixma, and the printer model number is MG2522.
Now that you know what a Canon printer name looks like, we will discuss further how to find your Canon printer model below.
How to Find the Printer Model of Canon Printer
You can find your printer’s model name by searching for it on the printer itself. Check the instructions and images below for more information.
a.) Front part of your Canon printer.
First, you can start by checking the front part of your printer, where the Canon printer model number is usually printed on. It can be found on the top portion of your printer’s front cover, like the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 Inkjet printer. If not located at the top part, we suggest checking the bottom portion of your printer’s front cover like the Canon imageCLASS MF429dw LaserJet printer.
b.) On top of your Canon printer.
Next, if the printer model name is not printed on the front part, you can search for it at the top part of the machine, just like for the Canon PIXMA iP2700 Inkjet printer and Canon Color imageCLASS MF628Cw LaserJet printer. The model name for these two printers is found at the top portion of the printer.
c.) Near the Control Panel.
Suppose you can not find your Canon printer name on either the front or top part of the machine. In that case, you can go ahead and check either top of the Control Panel like the Canon PIXMA MX350 Inkjet printer or the bottom of the Control Panel like the Canon Canon imageClass MF212w LaserJet printer.
d.) Through Bluetooth printing procedure.
You can also know what your printer name is by following the procedure of Bluetooth printing below:
- Ensure your printer is on, and then insert the Bluetooth unit to the USB flash drive port.
- Press the Menu button, then select Setup. After this, press OK.
- Choose the Device settings from the options given, and then press OK.
- Press and hold the down arrow until the Bluetooth settings is being highlighted. Once done, press OK.
- Choose Select device name from the options and take note of your Canon printer name once the device name screen is displayed.
If you still can not find what your Canon printer model number is, you can check the printer manual, the installation CD that came along with your printer, or the printer box if you still have it. If all else fails, I highly suggest contacting Canon’s Support Team.
