Shaping a Better Tomorrow, One Life at a Time

Since its founding in 2020, the Digital Future Initiative (DFI) has always focused on people, aiming to create a more equitable community inside and outside Compass Group. Today, DFI has broadened its horizons, expanding its reach to Compass Technology and further amplifying our positive impact.

It takes more than a financial donation to affect the future. It takes action. That’s why we partner with some of the most impactful and empowering organizations to create meaningful change in communities where we live and work.

Bridging the Digital Divide

A major cornerstone of the Digital Future Initiative is the strategic partnership with the Jamaal Magloire Foundation (JMF). Jamaal’s passion for uplifting communities runs as deep as his love for basketball. After hanging up his NBA jersey and rejoining the Toronto Raptors as an Assistant Coach, he poured considerable efforts into Community support.

Our collaboration with JMF is built on a shared vision of empowering youth through education and technology, so this October, we combined our efforts to donate more than 130 laptops and desktops to children who need them most.

“Thank you for giving these families and kids tools to succeed in the future”,

The event was a real team effort. Compass Digital and Compass Technology volunteers worked to refurbish and prepare these devices, packing them up for students and ensuring they were ready for immediate use.

In the meantime, Jamaal Magloire Foundation partnered with The Children’s Breakfast Club. This organization works across Southern Ontario to provide healthy meals, educational, cultural, and recreational activities, and emotional support to children in underserved communities.

Working together with Project Excellence, a support organization focused on sport and development, they were able to identify individuals who would most benefit from having access to a computer and organized an event at Scarborough Tropicana Community Services. This center, known for offering programs to low-income communities, generously donated the event space and also played a key role in identifying students who need help most.

During the event, Jugveer Randhawa, Chief Digital & Technology Officer — Compass Group North America and Jamaal Magloire, both addressed the students, emphasizing the power of potential, perseverance and hard work.

“Even in elementary school, you need iPads, laptops, and technology that allows you to communicate. This is our way of giving these kids an opportunity to have an equal chance in life.”

A Focus on the Future

As Compass Digital continues its journey with DFI, we remain focused on making real differences in the lives of individuals and, by extension, their communities. By facilitating access to technology, opening doors to new opportunities, and providing mentorship, we aim to empower individuals to unlock their full potential.

“This is just the tip of the iceberg. We’re very grateful for JMF and all their connections in the community, allowing us to reach those who need help most and provide support. Changing one person’s life can affect a thousand more, and we intend to continue driving positive change, one individual at a time.”
