COMPFEST 16, Depok — The Grand Launching event of COMPFEST 16 took place on Saturday, May 4, 2023. The event was broadcasted online and could be watched live through COMPFEST’s official YouTube channel. During this event, COMPFEST also introduced the Virtual Playground accessible through the official COMPFEST website. The Grand Launching commenced with an opening address from Sachi and Kenya as the MCs.

Opening

After the opening remarks by the MCs, the event proceeded with speeches from key stakeholders of COMPFEST 16. The first speech was delivered by Dr. Petrus Mursanto, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia. This was followed by a speech from Muhammad Tarreq Maulana, the Chairman of BEM Fasilkom UI. The session concluded with remarks from Gamma Farrel, the Project Officer of COMPFEST 16, themed “Expand The Horizon.”

Keynote Speech

Following the opening speeches, the event continued with a Keynote Speech delivered by distinguished figures in Indonesia’s technology development landscape. The keynote speakers included Juventia Vicky, President of Hacktiv8; William Surya Wijaya, Co-Founder & CTO of KarirLab; Suwandi Soh, Founder & CEO of Mekari; and William Suryawijaya, CEO of HelloBill POS. Their presence provided deeper insights into digital transformation and current technology trends.

Talkshow

The Grand Launching event proceeded with a Talkshow discussing engaging topics related to current technology and enhancing digital skills. Titled “Thriving Through Transformation: Navigating Tech Winter and Enhancing Digital Skills,” the Talkshow addressed navigating technological changes and improving digital skills. It featured two experienced speakers: Lugas Prancafitri, CFO of BNI Ventures, and Agung Gunawan, Cloud SRE at GE Healthcare. Andreas Ilham, IT Associate Consultant at BDO Indonesia, moderated the discussion.

The Talkshow began with introductions by the moderator and the two speakers. Andreas initiated the discussion on the economic landscape shaping Indonesia’s technology industry. The speakers then shared their perspectives on the impact of global economic changes on technology companies. They highlighted the challenges posed by “Tech Winter,” a period of economic crisis prompting businesses to reevaluate their strategies. Despite the difficulties, they emphasized the opportunities for innovation and collaboration. Pak Lugas highlighted the importance of portfolio diversification, while Kak Agung emphasized inter-company cooperation. They also discussed how crises create opportunities for new players to emerge with innovative solutions, such as AI.

Moderated by Andreas with attentive guidance, the Talkshow provided insights into how “Tech Winter” represents not only a challenging period but also an opportunity for positive change. The event concluded with questions about AI, navigating “Tech Winter,” and the reliance on AI.

Event Conclusion

Before officially closing the Grand Launching COMPFEST 16, the MCs shared additional information and invited TechOvers to participate in the Virtual Playground. This Virtual Playground also offered exciting prizes for participants to win. Following this announcement, the Grand Launching COMPFEST 16 was concluded by the MCs. Although the event has ended, we had the opportunity to conduct a follow-up interview with Pak Lugas and Kak Agung.

Interview Session

In this more personal interview session led by Salma, deeper insights were gained into Pak Lugas and Kak Agung. Pak Lugas shared his memorable experience of learning new things when starting his career in banking, aligning with his core values. He identified key trends in the IT industry affecting his work, such as technological innovations and threats to these innovations. His motivation to face these challenges stemmed from his core values and passion in his field, enabling him to continuously develop skills and adapt to dynamic environments.

Meanwhile, Kak Agung shared his career journey from IT Manager back to an engineer, successfully transforming both the company and himself. His passion for IT drives him to continuously develop skills to adapt to the valuable asset of cloud technology. Kak Agung believes events like COMPFEST are crucial for sharing knowledge and experiences with others to help develop their IT skills.

Pak Lugas and Kak Agung’s message to young professionals starting their careers is to remain open to new knowledge, build their core values, discover their passion, and continuously learn to develop their careers. They also emphasized the importance of commitment and enthusiasm in completing tasks.
